Empowher Outreach at Treasure Children College: Restoring Dignity Through Hygiene Education

On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the Empowher team from Savvy Initiative continued its mission to educate, equip, and uplift young girls by hosting an impactful outreach at Treasure Children College. With a focus on menstrual and personal hygiene, this outreach reached 200 girls, delivering practical knowledge, emotional support, and essential care items.

Arrival and Session Kickoff – 11:45 AM

The team arrived at the school by 11:45 AM and waited until the break at 12:00 PM to gain full access to the students. Female teachers assisted in gathering the girls in the school hall for the main event.

Personal Hygiene Education & Menstrual Health Awareness

The outreach began with a comprehensive hygiene sensitization session, covering topics from daily self-care routines to the importance of menstrual hygiene. Responding to the curiosity and concerns of the students, the team engaged them in an interactive Q&A, allowing them to ask questions—both verbally and anonymously.

The most common question was about understanding and managing the menstrual cycle. The team responded with clarity, offering both emotional support and a live demonstration on how to properly use a sanitary pad, helping the girls build both knowledge and confidence.

Photos and video recordings were taken to document the engagement and participation of students and teachers.

Distribution of Hygiene Care Packs

Each of the 200 girls received a brown envelope containing:

• 1 sanitary pad
• 1 toothbrush
• 1 toothpaste
• 1 bathing soap

These items, while basic, are powerful in restoring dignity and preparedness—especially in underserved communities where access to such essentials may be limited.

Departure – 1:15 PM

The team wrapped up and departed by 1:15 PM, encouraged by the students’ attentiveness and the openness of the dialogue. The session was smooth, well-received, and deeply appreciated by both staff and students.

Empowher, by Savvy Initiative, goes beyond outreach. It is a movement, ensuring that every girl, regardless of location or circumstance, has access to the knowledge, tools, and support she needs to thrive.
