Empowher Outreach at Ilese Comprehensive High School: Equipping 200 Girls with Knowledge and Dignity

On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, the Empowher team from Savvy Initiative carried out a powerful outreach at Ilese Comprehensive High School, delivering both essential hygiene supplies and transformative knowledge to 200 girls. Rooted in the belief that every girl deserves dignity, education, and recognition, this outreach was another milestone in the ongoing Empowher movement.

Arrival and Hygiene Education – 10:45 AM

The team arrived at 10:45 AM and was welcomed by school staff, who helped gather the girls in the school hall. The event kicked off with a hygiene sensitization session, focusing on practical self-care routines, menstrual hygiene, and daily cleanliness—topics often overlooked but crucial to a young girl’s confidence and health.

Two-Way Dialogue: Breaking Barriers

The outreach was not just a lecture—it was a conversation. The team asked the students questions to spark engagement and welcomed theirs in return. To create a safe space, particular attention was given to menstrual health, the most frequently asked topic during the session. The girls listened intently, demonstrating curiosity and eagerness to learn more about their bodies and well-being.

Photos and video footage were captured throughout the event, preserving the energy and engagement of the session for future reflection and awareness-building.

Dignity in Every Pack

Following the talk, each of the 200 girls received a care package in a brown envelope containing:

• 1 sanitary pad
• 1 toothbrush
• 1 toothpaste
• 1 bathing soap

These simple items go beyond utility—they represent support, respect, and hope.

Departure – 12:30 PM

The Empowher team departed Ilese Comprehensive High School at 12:30 PM, fulfilled by the attentiveness of the students and the impact of the conversations held.
