Empowher Outreach at Ijebu Mushin: Advancing Hygiene Education for 200 Girls in Ogun State

On Thursday, January 30, 2025, Empowher, the flagship program of Savvy Initiative, extended its mission of empowerment and recognition to Ijebu Mushin Comprehensive High School in Ogun State. Focused on educating and equipping girls with hygiene essentials, this outreach marked another impactful step in the organization’s commitment to restoring dignity and promoting health among young girls.

Arrival and Assembly – 11:55 AM

The Empowher team arrived at the school by 11:55 AM. With the support of the school’s teachers, 200 girls were assembled in a hall for the day’s activities. The event began with a personal hygiene sensitization session covering key topics such as menstrual health, daily hygiene habits, and self-care essentials tailored for adolescent girls.

As the team spoke, a video of the session was recorded, and photos were taken with both students and staff to document the outreach and celebrate the moment.

Interactive Learning and Care Package Distribution

The session was not just informative, it was interactive, with girls asking questions, sharing their experiences, and engaging in a meaningful dialogue about their health.

Following the session, care packages were distributed to each of the 200 girls. Each brown envelope contained:

1 sanitary pad

1 toothbrush

1 toothpaste

1 bathing soap

These essentials provide not only physical support but also a reminder that each girl deserves to feel cared for and dignified.

Departure – 1:00 PM

By 1:00 PM, the team concluded the outreach, leaving behind more than just packages—they left behind awareness, hope, and a sense of empowerment.
